Yarn Along – 9 November

Joining Ginny today over at Small Things

My mitten basket is growing with a pair of mittens added to the fingerless gloves I knitted up a couple of weeks ago.

I have quite a few patterns for mittens which are knit on 4 needles, the only problem is that I didn’t have the correct size of needles and did not want to spend more money on buying them – especially since my thrifty idea of using up left over yarn for the fingerless gloves ended with me having to buy in another whole skein! So I did a quick google search and found this easy free two needle pattern. It was quick and easy to knit up. I made a couple of adjustments to fit my youngest daughters hand. This pattern is so quick that it took me two evenings of knitting to complete the pair, although if you could probably complete them in an evening if you manage to sit down early enough ;o) As you can see I am browsing through a vegetarian cookbook for some new inspired meals to add to my meal plan stash ;o)

I have also started another Aestlight Shawl. I just love this cornflower blue and thought that it would be perfect for this simple knit. I can’t wait to get started on the lace panel, I really enjoyed working on this part in the last shawl. The book is ‘Seasons of a Mothers Heart’ by Sally Clarkson. I am really enjoying this book. It is set to become a firm favourite and already I know in my heart that I am going to be reading this book over and over again through the years. It is just so thought provoking and inspiring – just what a homeschooling mama needs!

And that concludes another Yarn Along! Another week of knitting, although not as much as I would like. I really need to step it up if I am going to complete some of those Christmas projects I have on the go! Happy knitting everyone.

That cornflower blue is so pretty, and I love the mitts – such a pretty post 🙂

I'm currently working through my cookbooks to increase my usual meal repertoire, it's good fun 🙂

The colors are so pretty! It seems like everyone is making mittens and and such, I am feeling like as soon as I finished my shawl I ought to make a matching pair of gloves too!

Sally Clarkson lives over the mountain from me and my best friend is a good friend of hers. Unfortunately, she came on the scene after I was long done raising kids but she is a remarkable woman. It does seem like everyone is making mittens or fingerless mittens today. I'm already wearing them here in the Rocky Mountains!
