Off The Needles!

What an exciting yarny week! I finished my Shalom Cardigan. I love love LOVE it! It fits beautifully – the first cardi I have knitted for myself that fits so well – it was a dream to knit up.

It came together so quickly and I loved the Drops yarn I used. It is so soft and warm – far to warm for these early summer days but will be perfect for those cool Autumn days to come.

These pictures are taken pre-blocking, and it doesn’t look bad. I am looking forward to seeing it blocked :o)

Please do excuse all the headless pictures – but this was a make-up free day so I prefer to be headless LOL

The buttons – I just love the buttons! They make me happy :o)

I love how this cardi is all knitted as one piece. No seems, so sewing together, just pure knitting!

I have enjoyed knitting this cardi so much and it fits so well that I plan on casting on another one later on this week, this time the colour is ‘Heather’. A deep rich purple. You can see it here. This time I think I will add one more buttonhole and an extra button :o)

Reading…

I am still busy with my Agatha Raisin mystery. For some reason I am not enjoying it as much as I have some of the others. Agatha Raisin seems particularly needy in this book and I find it quite irritating. I keep wishing that she would pull herself together!

Oh, Shirley Ann…the cardigan is just lovely! You did a wonderful job. 🙂
Hope you're having a blessed week, my friend. 🙂

Love it love it love it! My first ever knitting project was very similar to this. It was worked top down on circular needles, no seams, but it was "shrug" length. My mother in law took me to the knitting shop where I picked out a pattern, beautiful CASHMERE yarn, and bamboo needles. She paid for it all as a gift to me and I knitted it up in a fury! The only trouble was… it was about big enough to fit a nine year old… certainly not ME! Your post has inspired me to give it another go! I'll use this pattern and hope it comes out wearable! (If it weren't for the fact that it was mu first ever knitting project, I would have yanked it al out so as not to have wasted the $19/ball yarn!) Thanks for sharing!

Amanda I am so pleased that you are inspired to pick up your needles again. I highly recommend knitting the gauge swatch first! Something I normally never do but will certainly do from now on! :o)

Thank you Emma – after browsing through lots of Shalom's on Ravelry I decided that 3 buttons it would have to be. I think that 1 button would have driven me mad and cause my chest to get cold in the cool English weather LOL.

Gorgeous – you finished that really quick – is it an easy pattern or are you a very quick knitter?

Just lovely Shirls! Where can I get the pattern? Would love to try one, all I seem to churn out are scarves and mittens!

Your shalom cardigan is beautiful. I immediately recognized the music from Peter Rabbit; it's my daughter's favorite DVD.
