Needle and Thread…

I am just loving my stitching at the moment (and the glorious sunshine we have been having today 🙂 It’s portable, easy to pick up where I left off and I love watching whatever I am stitching come to life with each new stitch.

This weekend we spent hours upon hours in hospital with DH who had spinal surgery (which went extremely well – we are all home now!) This meant hours upon hours to fill with stitching! Yay!

Here are some of the little stitcheries I have been working on… some free kits from my favourite cross-stitch mag and some from various charts that I have. I am trying to work on building my card-stash stitcheries. I love giving hand stitched cards but have realised that it will be far more practical for me to have a little collection of stitcheries rather than trying to stitch as I need them. Life ALWAYS seems to get in the way of my best laid plans and undo all my good intentions.

Other stitching this week has been a bit of re-vamping of an old-time favourite….

My Filofax cover that I made a few years ago. I love this cover. The embroidery design is my own and I love the pretty blue and cream fabric that frames the design. But the inside flaps that slip over my Filofax were just a little too short and did not hold the cover in place very well. As a result my Filofax – which actually is the most useful tool in my organisation arsenal – is never used. But not any more. My Filofax has received a makeover from cover to cover – can’t wait to take you on a little tour through it later on in the week 🙂

So – with new flaps and the addition of an elastic to hold it all together, new life has been breathed into an old favourite.

Today I am linking up with Chrissie from Chrissie Crafts – a blog that I have just discovered (and love) through Jooles from Sew Sweet Violet. Check out their blogs – both are lovely to visit.

Blessings to you all 🙂

Hello my dear friend. He is doing well. Lots of recovery time ahead but we are looking forward to having him at home for 6 whole weeks 🙂

Hello Anne, A Filofax (filofax is the brand name) is a personal organizer. It's a bit like having your homekeeping journal in aa smaller format. When you buy them they generally come with some basic sections like your daily planner, financial section, addresses and a notes section. but you can add dividers that you might need to help keep you organized such as meal planning, homekeeping schedules etc – anything you want really. If you check back later on in the week I will take you through a tour of my Filofax so that you can get an idea of what it is and how I use it 🙂

      Blessings

What beautiful stitching! Thank you for linking up – your Filofax cover is soooo pretty, and very clever of you to stitch cards ahead of time! Hope DH is doing well… Chrissie x

    Dear Shirley
I think your stitching projects are looking lovely. I have great admiration for you cross-stitchers because I know that I couldn't do that! Your Filofax cover is beautiful too. I'm looking forward to seeing your other projects.
    Best wishes
    Ellie
