Easter Crafting – Monday

The original activity from our ‘Scripture Adventure‘ was to make an Easter colours book. I decided to adapt it after I saw this great craft idea on  Dawn’s blog, but for the life of me I cannot find her exact post.

Anyhoo, we made this little egg hanging by pasting tissue paper over a blown up balloon. We worked about 4 layers of tissue paper, the colours carefully chosen to reflect Easter.

Purple for royalty, Jesus was the King of Kings.

Blue for the sky because Jesus was resurrected and ascended into heaven.

White for purity like Jesus’ perfect life.

Yellow for sunlight, and the light of Christ that brings life to the world.

Green for life; Jesus overcame sin and death to bring us eternal life

Red/Pink for the blood that Jesus shed for us

Once it was dry, we popped the balloon and one of the girls cut out an egg shape in the front. Then we filled the egg with ‘new life’…

This was a really easy craft and is just so sweet. We actually started the ‘egg’ last week as we knew that we would need a couple of days to get all the layers dry. Although the tissue paper is thin, the craft glue has made our egg rather sturdy – ensuring that we can enjoy it’s cheerful colours in the years to come!
