Do You Know?
The Shema
Hear oh Israel. The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. ~Deut 6 v4-5
It is a good thing to ask ourselves a few questions every so often. It helps us to remember what is important and where we are heading.
There are often many distractions and diversions along the way. If we do not know where we are heading and why, it is easy to go off the path and get taken in by the fancies that cross our path…
Are we walking in the light? Do we use Gods Word to light our way?
Or are we lost? Unable to see the wood for the trees?
Do we know what is important?
Do we know that we do not need to ‘teach’ them about nature because God does that through the splendor of His creation?
Do we know that it is not what we put into our children’s minds but rather how we love them?
Do we know that God’s Holy Word says,
‘There is something to watch out for. There is no end to the writing of books, and too much study will wear you out. After all this, there is only one thing to say: Fear God, and obey His commands, because this is all man was created for’ ~ Ecc 12 v12-13
Can you remember?
Can you remember your reasons for choosing to home educate?
Can you remember the vision that God placed in you?
Can you remember the feeling of overwhelming joy at serving God by loving and teaching your own?
Have you lost it?
Have you lost the vision?
Have you lost the joy?
Have you lost touch with God’s heart for your children?
Does your time reflect your priorities?
Do I spend more time on the three R’s than on teaching my children of their Lord and Saviour?
Are gaining good grades more important that gaining good character?
Is worldly knowledge more important than Godly wisdom?
Do you know?
Do you know that God wants your children’s hearts?
Do you know that our children learn of God’s love for them through the WAY we love our children?
Do you know that each time we choose to meet world standards we are teaching our children to conform to the world?
Do you know that by choosing to trust God for each and every little thing – including educational choices, you are choosing to live in victory through Christ?
Ephesians 5 v15 & 16 ~ ‘So be careful how you act; these are difficult days. Don’t be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good. Don’t act thoughtlessly but try to find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to’
How do you choose to spend your time leading your children? God has been very clear on this…
Deut 6: 6 & 7 ~ ‘ And you must think constantly about these commandments I am giving you today. You must teach them to your children and talk about them when you are at home or out for a walk; at bedtime and the first thing in the morning. Tie them on your finger, wear them on your forehead, and write them on the doorposts of your house!’
Have you stepped off the path my dear friends? It’s never too late to find our way back. All we need do is shine God’s light and He will direct our paths and make them straight.
Blessings to you all.
