The Creative Home: Yarn Along -An Autumn Slouchy Hat

Joining Ginny today over at Small Things

I finished off my slouch hat last week Tuesday. At the moment my knitting focus is on new hats, cowls, scarf’s and gloves for the next winter season. I want to have our woollies basket that sits by the front door full of lovely new warm woollies by this coming autumn.

When I started knitting this had, I had no idea who it would belong to. When I finished it up last week I tried it on and really did not like it on me. The colour did me no justice at all – I looked rather washed out. Today I asked one of my darling daughters to model it for this post, the instant she put it on I knew it was meant for her. The colour made her eyes extra green and suites her complexion.

It’s funny how that happens sometimes isn’t it?

My next project will be to knit a matching cowl. I think I will use the Stockholm pattern as it is quite similar to the decorative rib of the hat.

I have noted down the rib pattern in my Ravelry notes, I’m afraid I cannot write out the complete pattern as it is not mine to share.

Nothing to share on the reading front today, I am catching up on some of my magazine reading at the moment, in between making meters and meters of bunting for our church fete on Saturday!

Have a lovely Wednesday everyone…

so, so cute! Glad your slouchy found the perfect owner. 🙂 I have knit with that same wrapped eyelet stitch pattern several times and love the texture and look of it!

What a pretty hat (and pretty model)! I love the decorative rib. I plan on knitting a slouchy hat next (for one of my daughters) and may use that rib pattern. Thank you for noting it on your Ravelry page.

What a nice idea to have a basket of woollies. Our winters are not usually that cold, it this past winter was horrid. I may have to start a basket as well!

Lovely hat, great slouch, and it looks wonderful on your daughter. I'm knitting for next fall too.

It's beautiful and suits your daughter perfectly – I'm going to bookmark it because I've had my eye on a slouchy hat for next winter and I love the decorative ribbing you added to this one 🙂
