The Creative Home: A Yarn Along Post

Joining Ginny today over at Small Things.

On the needles: Like I mentioned in last weeks Yarn Along post, I am a bit addicted to knitting boot warmers or boot cuffs.

They knit up so quickly and really do finish off an outfit. I love that they require very little concentration and that I can happily sit with my family in the evening watching a bit of telly with my needles clicking away peacefully 🙂

Reading: Oh I have a good one on the go at the moment! Recommended by my grandmother, The Magic Apple Tree by Susan Hill

This book documents a single year spent observing the countryside, wildlife, it’s sights and sounds, vegetable growing and general country living through the seasons from Susan’s cottage in a small village in England.

This book is set to become a favourite, I love the authors nostalgic style of writing, so much so that I have already ordered two more books written by her, ‘Through the Garden Gate’ and ‘Through the Kitchen Window’. 🙂

Beautiful colour yarn, will coordinate with almost anything. A real delightful read, The Magic Apple Tree one of my favourites along with The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady by Edith Holden.

I love anything that knits up quickly, although I haven't heard of boot cuffs before. Sounds fun! And The Magic Apple Tree sounds awesome! Definitely a book I would enjoy.

I've made a few boot cuffs for myself too…so stylish and EASY to knit! I agree…projects like that are perfect for working on while watching shows. Happy knitting! 🙂

That book sounds interesting 🙂 I've never tried boot warmers but I always thought they looked so cool!

Sounds like a great book – I have added it to my reading list. Thanks! Love the oatmeal colored yarn. Great idea for boot toppers. Then I could wear that color, which looks terrible on me otherwise!
