A Spring Yarn Along Post

Joining Ginny at Small Things

Hello everyone! How lovely to see you here on this fresh spring day. In the back garden our apple trees are laden with flowers – more than I’ve ever seen on our trees before. However I don’t see any insects buzzing about the flowers, I would have expected it to be teeming with life, but alas – no.

This seems to be the same problem year after year. The trees do have some sort of fungus that I have battled with for ages and I fear I am loosing the battle. Oh well, at last they look pretty in the spring even if our fruit yield is dismal!

The Forsythia is greening up nicely and is hanging on to it’s last few flowers. The blooming season is so short for this shrub, but certainly spectacular. It feels a little sad to have to wait another whole year to see it in it’s yellow glory again. I hope that our new garden in Devon has at least one HUGE Forsythia in it 🙂

Today is Yarn Along over at Ginny’s blog. It has been ages since I contributed, as I said yesterday, my knitting mojo seemed to have deserted me for a while, but it’s coming back 🙂

Yesterday I cast on a pair of Hermione’s Everyday Socks. The pattern calls for the knitting to be done on two circular needles. At first I could not figure out how on earth that would work, but thank goodness for YouTube! You can find out how to do just about anything on YouTube 🙂

Although the method looked very easy, I opted instead to knit my socks using dpn’s – it’s what I have in my knitting needle collection. I’m using Heritage Cascade Yarn in Cinnamon for these socks, I LOVE Cascade yarns, they are a dream to work with. The pattern (a free Ravelry Download) is really well written and so easy to follow. I’m hoping to have the pair knit up by next week.

READING: This year I have been on an Agatha Christie kick – I love her writing and find her mysteries keep me guessing right to the end. I’m currently reading the second book in her Poirot series, The Murder on the Links. I’m just about finished with this book and still have no idea who the murderer is!

As most of my regular readers know, we are moving to Devon in the Summer, one of the first things I want to do is visit Agatha Christie’s home, Greenway, which is located on the River Dart. It’s an hours drive from Plymouth which means we get to explore along the way 🙂

Well, that’s it from me today. Hope you have a super Wednesday everyone.

gorgeous sock color and I've seen that pattern before, but haven't knit it up yet. Can't wait to hear what you think.

Great to get a yarn recommendation. I've not used Cascade myself but have had trouble recently with yarns pilling (Debbie Bliss and Bergere de France). My first and only pair of socks this year were from the Hermiones Everyday pattern but I used the Fish Lips Kiss heel. You'll miss that apple blossom when you move.
