Valentines Crochet Heart Project
Paying attention to the details is what sets a home apart from a house, like this little valentines crochet heart project. I love to mark the seasons in my home with little homespun touches because they add warmth to my home and make my home feel like a blessing to my family and anyone who visits.
Adding throughtful touches like this charming Valentines display silently conveys the message that you love your home and that it is important to you. Home keeping goes beyond the mundane tasks of housekeeping – it is time spent considering how you can show those who dwell within that home truly is where the heart is.
Creating crochet hearts for a Valentine’s Day project that can be displayed on a tree is a simple and easy idea! Its a nice little project that you can do in the evening whilst watching TV with the family, or perhaps take with you to work on while waiting for the children to finish any extra curricular activities they may be engaged in.
Here’s a simple pattern and some tips for making crochet hearts and incorporating them into your project.
Simple Pattern To Create Your Valentines Crochet Heart Project
To create my valentines crochet heart project I’ve used this pattern written by Lucy from Attic24 . I love her patterns as they are well written and easy to follow.
If crochet is not for you then why not grab some felt, beads, buttons and embroidery thread and make a few hearts with beaded hangings as pictured from my own display.
Materials Needed:
- DK weight yarn (that’s Worsted weight in the U.S) in red, pink, and white (or colors of your choice)
- Corresponding crochet hook (usually size G/4.0mm or H/5.0mm)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Ribbon or string for hanging
- Alternativly, various scraps of felt, buttons, beads and embroidery threads.
Assembling the Valentines Crochet Heart Tree Display
Prepare the Tree:
- Use a small decorative tree, branches in a vase, or a miniature artificial tree. I got my miniture tree from Hobbycraft.
- Decorate the tree with lights or ribbons if desired.
Attach Hearts:
- Cut small lengths of ribbon or string.
- Thread a piece of ribbon or string through the top of each heart.
- Tie the hearts onto the branches of the tree.
Home Blessings:
- Write small blessing notes or quotes on pieces of paper.
- Attach these notes to the hearts using a small safety pin or tape, or even crochet a small pouch to attach to the heart where you can insert the note.
Home Blessing Ideas
- “May your home be filled with love and laughter.”
- “Bless this home with peace, prosperity, and love.”
- “May joy and warmth fill this house and heart.”
Tips:
- Vary the sizes of the hearts by using different yarn weights and hook sizes
- Add embellishments such as beads, buttons, or embroidery for extra decoration.
- Create a garland by stringing multiple hearts together on a long piece of yarn or ribbon.
